Summary

For almost 15 years, David has been a leader in networking technology design and deployment.  He has been the first engineer in the network consulting team for several companies, focused on building teams into profitable business units.

David has extensive experience in enterprise networks spanning multiple locations; most recently, David has designed enterprise backup systems based on VERITAS NetBackup, and Command Central Service to provide a centrally managed system to meet a customer’s disaster recovery objective.

As the founder of the Canberra Windows User Group, (an infrastructure group), David presents regularly on Microsoft technologies and is able to provide advice on the latest technology solutions to solve business challenges.

David is the Infrastructure Architect and one of the Directors of Synergistic Network Solutions Pty Limited with responsibility for technical direction, holding design authority for all commercial works conducted by Synergistic staff and contractors.

David is a member of the Australian Computer Society.

Disaster Recovery and Hot Site Planning

David has extensive experience designing and deploying backup and disaster recovery systems using of products such as VERITAS Backup Exec, Storagecraft Shadow Protect, Microsoft Data Protection Manager and VERITAS NetBackup.

David can design and implement business continuity solutions for corporate data using replication and global namespace technologies.

David has designed a VERITAS NetBackup solution for a large customer protecting more than 200 sites providing centralised control and monitoring features. 

Recently David delivered a project to create a disaster recovery site across cities utilizing a remote cluster and data replication technologies, David’s role was that of the technical lead working with vendor and customer representatives to deliver the solution.

Network Design

David has been designing Local Area Networks for almost 15 Years; these designs have included solutions based on Microsoft Windows Technologies, and Novell NetWare, Integration with UNIX infrastructure.

David has extensive detailed design experience with Standard Operating Environments in the Commercial and Public sectors.

David regularly conducts technology briefings on Windows Infrastructure covering deployment, management, and best practice.

Technical Readiness

David is constantly learning the latest technologies predominately from Microsoft; his role as the founder of the Canberra Windows User Group allows him the opportunity to regularly present on new technologies, with a slant on what is new and what are emerging best practices.
